Why I'm with South Whidbey Fire and Rescue: Unlike my youth in sports, I can choose to play on the varsity. To be able to apply the training given to make someone's day better. The unspoken, basic gut level, survival level of trust you share with those you train with (the "brotherhood").

Why YOU should volunteer: They would have complete control over their level of participation, disciplines and training. Join an elite group of varied individuals (some think we are nuts), that with training, become an effective one. Plus get paid to play with lights and sirens on a big truck. This is not easy to describe --- the indescribably huge reward received from a relatively small contribution.
